Remember when you used to actually drink your tea (or coffee) while it was hot?
These days, it’s more like:
- Puts tea to brew
- Answers urgent email
- Helps with homework
- Joins Zoom call
- Finds tea oversteeped and cold
- Makes fresh cup of tea
- Repeat 😅
I get it. As a business owner and a homeschooling mom, for that matter….I’ve had my share of cold tea days. But here’s the thing – your success shouldn’t come at the cost of life’s simple pleasures. And if you know me well, you know I am obsessed with tea! 🍵
One day, I enjoyed my morning cup of hot green tea WITHOUT checking my emails right away. …and guess what? The world didn’t end!
Oh…and I cooked a homemade breakfast for my family during the week! The world still didn’t end. 🎉
You see, I was used to jumping out of bed and logging into my email, instant messager, and project management system and started tending to everything and everyone demanding my attention virtually. I put off drinking my freshly brewed tea and making a homemade breakfast for myself and my family more times than not. Before I knew it, everyone in the house was starved and grumpy, including me. It would dawn on me, I hadn’t even eaten, or drinken my morning green tea, instead I was working away immediately, because… well…my clients and team needed me. Or did they? 🤔
This is just one way that I used to put my work in front of my own well-being and attention for my family. Nowadays, I have peaceful mornings and enjoy multiple cups of freshly brewed tea and a homecooked breakfast. And so can you! You are worth it!
