Planning a Trip to Europe vs. Planning Life: Surprising Lessons

Two years ago my husband got sent to Europe for work.

Since we homeschool our kids, we all jumped at the chance to go. My daughter was obsessed with Paris. Taking her to Paris would be a dream come true for her. I had clients in France and Germany, so of course I couldn’t wait to meet them in person and experience their environment.

Getting to meet 2 of my clients in person was amazing. Fun fact, they live 10 minutes from each other but in 2 separate countries.

But here’s the thing…we would leave in approximately a month. We weren’t ready at all. The kids didn’t have passports. (they had never even been on a plane!) My passport had my maiden name and was last used when we eloped back in 2008. We had to rush getting passports. None of us had shoes or luggage that could make it through cobblestone streets. We spent countless hours planning…

→ What are our must sees in Paris, Berlin, and the Swiss Alps?

→ Where would we stay?

→ How long would we stay at each place?

→ Would there be gluten free food there for me to eat?

→ How do we change our USD to Euros and Francs?

→ etc.

The funny part? I put more effort into planning that three-week trip than my actual life.

Kind of crazy when you think about it.

I was obsessed over finding the perfect gluten free pastry in Paris. But life planning? We just wing it. It would have been so helpful to have a guide to help us on the planning of this once in a lifetime trip. Life planning? When compared to vacation planning, it is something we usually just wing. What about your business? Do you run it by the seat of your pants with your hair on fire? 🔥

That’s exactly why I created the Work-Life Optimization System. Think of it as your life and business travel guide.

No more feeling lost and unprepared. No more 50-hour work weeks. No more missed family dinners. No more feeling unsatisified with how you have been balancing work and life. (Truth: there is no such thing as work-life balance)

You’ll finally take those morning walks you keep talking about. You’ll make it to your kid’s events. Your life deserves better planning than to find that well known hot chocolate from Angelina’s. (It is not all it is cracked up to be. IMO) But the gluten free pastry was amazing!
