Hey there!
Today my family and I have been traveling back home from the east coast back to NM. We had an amazing time visiting and watching the kids compete in the 2nd largest archery tournament in the world! 🌎🌍
The last 3 or so years my kids have been competing in target archery. Last year, my daughter decided that she wanted to get a national ranking so we started traveling throughout the US so she could compete at the tournaments that are required for a national ranking through USA Archery.
This particular archery tournament is more of a ‘fun’ tournament, meaning this one does not affect her USA Archery national ranking. This was our first year at this tournament. It was an action-packed and busy trip to Amish Country. After four days of watching paint dry (aka watching an archery tournament 🤣) I had an ‘ah, ha’ moment. 💡

This is a panoramic view of ONLY ONE shooting line happening at the same time. There were a total of 136 bales with 4 archers per bale.
After all these years, it dawned on me that there are some seriously cool parallels between the competition archery and running a business.
In fact, the “Steps of Shooting” from the National Training System reads like a playbook for business success. Let me share a few insights that might just change the way you approach your company.

First off, archery is ALL about process.
First off, archery is ALL about process. You’ve got your stance, your draw, your release – it’s a methodical series of movements that have to be dialed in. And guess what? That’s exactly what makes a business hum. When you’ve got defined workflows, consistently executed tasks, and a clear vision, that’s when the magic happens.
It’s the same reason I love my Work-Life Optimization System so much.
But the real secret sauce in archery, and in entrepreneurship, is patience. You can’t just yank back that bow and expect a bullseye. You’ve gotta stay calm, centered, and trust the process. Same goes for building a company – the ups and downs are real, and you’ve gotta be willing to weather the storm.
I remember when I was in the beginning years of my business, I thought I was never going to land a client that saw my worth and would pay me for what I brought to the table. It felt like it was taking forever. But I kept showing up, kept delivering value, building my network, nurturing my relationships, and eventually it paid off in a huge way. It was like sinking that perfect arrow straight into the center of the target. So satisfying!
And you know what else archery teaches you? Reliance.
You’ve gotta have faith in your equipment, your form, your abilities. It’s the same with entrepreneurship – you’ve gotta be able to rely on your team, your strategies, your resilience. When you’ve put in the work, you can trust yourself to come through, no matter what.
The Work-Life Optimization System—a game-changer for entrepreneurs! Think of it as your personal archery coach, guiding you to stay focused on your values and priorites, practice patience, and consistently hit the bullseye in your business and life.
