Why Work-Life Balance is BS (and What Actually Works)

That’s right, I said it….work-life balance is bullshit.

​I used to think I needed “work-life balance.” You know what happened? I was miserable trying to perfectly divide my time between everything. It felt like juggling chainsaws while riding a unicycle. I was being pulled in so many directions that I forgot why I started my business in the first place.

That’s when it hit me – we don’t need balance. We need harmony.

Having balance means that everything on both sides of the balance beam would have to be completely equal. But that is impossible!

​We all go through seasons in our lives. There may be times when our work is 75% and our personal lives take up 25%. Maybe we are single and kidless so we don’t have much in our personal lives going on. Then there may be a time when you are married, have kids, take care of elderly parents, etc. when 75% of your time is taking care of others and your work is 25%. ​Dictionary.com defines harmony as, “consistent, orderly, or pleasing arrangement of parts; congruity.” It also defines balance as, “a state of equilibrium or equipoise; equal distribution of weight, amount, etc.”

​So, as you can see, the answer to your overwhelm is harmony, not balance.

​I went from feeling trapped in overwhelm and burnout, neglecting my health and relationships, to starting the journey of scaling and restructuring my business in a way that aligns with my values. I now work with clients I truly love and do the work that brings me joy. Along the way, I’ve set boundaries, reclaimed my time, and rebuilt my confidence. ​While I’m still on this journey, I’m here to help you take those first steps toward transformation without needing to be perfect.
